It looks like the odds are stacked against us and the president with regards to passing this budget. CBO just threw a big monkey wrench in his plans and now he is in the fight of his young presidency. If Barack can't get this budget passed with all three major agenda, the republicans will win. Both Democrats and Republicans are gearing up to fight us and president obama's agenda. Congress is making him choose betweeen Healtcare, Education and Energy. I can tell you that if this budget doesn't pass, and we have to make a choice between the three, it will defeat everything he is trying to do. Its time to start talking to your neighbors, knock on doors and start canvassing again. If you all want Healthcare, Education and Energy
More after the jump
For those who have time this weekend to canvass to sell his budget plans, please please go to
http://my.barackobama.com/...
and sign up to join a canvassing this Saturday. We are going to need everyone to help pass his agenda. We should not have to make a choice between healthcare, education or energy because we desperately need all three reforms. I get so angry that middle class has to once again take a backseat to things that matter to us. Where are the priorites? Bush and his administration, repubican congress and senate and all the wallstreet crooks,(AIG, CITIBANK, WELLSFARGO, FANNIE MAE, FREDDIE MAC, MERRILL LYNCH) the ponzi schemes, the CEO's(GM, CHRYSLER,) who have taken bailout and bonues to save their companies and have robbed us blind, and we continue paying billions and billions of dollars to save their asses. The progressives/democrats and president Obama can't even get support he needs to pass this budget. This is our last chance to reform Education, Healthcare and Energy. We all know that this is probably our last shot because if it doesn't get done this time, it will never get done. I know everybody is freaking out about the debt, but I don't freakin care. We are going to be in debt regardless on what happens. If heathcare cost are not fixed, it will eventually bankrupt this country. If Energy isn't fixed, we will eventually be paying 7 bucks a gallon. If Education isn't fixed, the widening of performance in school will continue to grow.
We have an uphill battle.........

President Barack Obama’s new budget will produce a string of annual deficits averaging in excess of $926 billion over the next decade and more than triple what taxpayers pay each year in interest charges on the national debt, according to new estimates released Friday by the Congressional Budget Office.
White House’s immediate reaction showed no sign of backing away from its proposals, but New Hampshire Sen. Judd Gregg, the ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, said the numbers are "frightening" and it is "imperative" now that both sides sit down and try to find a path toward more long range deficit reduction.
CBO calculates that the current fiscal year ending Sept. 30 will show a record deficit of $1.85 trillion that narrows to $658 billion in 2012. But that proves to be the low point for the decade, and by 2018 and 2019, CBO says the government would be back in a situation where it is running up more than $1 trillion in red ink annually.

U.S. Federal Deficit Soars Past Previous Estimates
Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) has said the gloomier CBO forecast would require "adjustments" to Obama's budget, though he declined to specify what changes would be necessary. To reduce the deficits, Democrats could dial back Obama's spending plans or find new sources of revenue.

Sell, sell, sell, Pelosi says
Nancy Pelosi knows she has a big sales job on the budget (especially after CBO's deficit number spiked today) so she sent out a "Dear Colleague" letter asking House Democrats to hold at least one event to sell various parts of the Obama agenda during the April 4th - 19th spring recess.

Battle lines drawn on health care

As health care reform negotiations heat up, what had been a conciliatory tone is turning confrontational.

As health care reform moves from conceptual talks to detailed negotiations, what had been a conciliatory tone is turning more confrontational.
The emerging fault line betwen the parties is the mostly Democrat-backed idea of creating a public insurance plan to compete with private insurers. Proponents and foes of the government option are beginning to raise their voices more forcefully and frequently .

The AIG bonus imbroglio could deliver a one-two punch to Obama's plans to help the economy.
The AIG bonus imbroglio could deliver a one-two punch to President Barack Obama’s plans to help the economy.
The insurance giant’s decision to pay out $165 million in bonuses will make it vastly harder to get future bailouts through Congress, and lawmakers’ efforts to get the money by imposing hefty taxes on bonuses could cause other private companies to steer clear of government recovery programs.
Obama said Thursday night that House passage of the bonus-tax plan "rightly reflects the outrage that so many feel over the lavish bonuses that AIG provided its employees at the expense of the taxpayers who have kept this failed company afloat."
The legislative proposals go much farther than just American International Group. The House bill would hit all of the nation’s biggest banks, and the Senate version — introduced Thursday night — would hit an even broader swath of the financial services industry. And financial analysts, lawyers and even some Democrats warned Thursday that would make Obama’s job even harder by scaring off banks and private investors that he desperately needs as partners.

Update #1 This is my first REC..Thanks everyone!! I am so worried about this budget and the fact that we may have to settle for not getting what we want. If obama has to choose, we all lose!! This fight is going to be bigger than his election because, he now has to fight not only republicans but his own party. I never thought some of the democrats would try and block this agenda. Its time to get that spirit again....
YES WE CAN!!
